Experiment customization is most likely a feature that you haven’t heard of yet. It’s not something that you would typically think of until you ran into a very specific problem. The problem is that you’re running an experiment on a deep part of your app, like a checkout flow. Because only a small portion of your audience sees this part of your app, your conversion data is skewed. If you could have it your way, you would probably only have the people who start the checkout process appear as part of your results. But you’re left with very small conversion numbers and inappropriate conversion rates overall.
So what are you to do when you create an experiment like this that is maybe ten pages deep into your app and only 5% of your traffic ever starts the experiment. Well, you look in your A/B testing platform for a setting to customize the starting point of the experiment. On Taplytics, this is located in the “Customize” section of the experiment.
When you get to the Customize, section you just select the view that you want to be the starting point of your experiment. Your results will now only count users, views, sessions, and conversions once they hit that view you set. The benefit here is that you get cleaner data from the more precise tracking and, as a result, it is easier to determine a winner from the experiment. And who doesn’t want that?
